Project Overview

Autonomous platforms offer transformative capabilities for ocean research, yet their effective use requires specialized training in mission planning, sensor selection, data processing, and scientific interpretation. APART provides hands-on training and capacity building for early-career researchers in autonomous platform deployment and data analysis.

The project combines theoretical instruction with practical field experience, covering glider operations, mission design, quality control procedures, and scientific applications. Participants gain skills in platform programming, sensor calibration, data processing, and interpretation of autonomous platform datasets.

APART aims to build UK research capacity in autonomous ocean observation, preparing the next generation of researchers to leverage these powerful tools for addressing critical questions in marine science.
