Project Overview

Sustained ocean observation requires robust infrastructure for autonomous platform operations, real-time data management, and quality-controlled data delivery. GLIDERS I establishes core capabilities for NOC's ocean glider program, including fleet management systems, standardized deployment protocols, and automated data processing pipelines.

The project develops infrastructure to support persistent glider observations in UK shelf seas and open ocean regions, with emphasis on biogeochemical sensor integration and near-real-time data availability for operational oceanography and research applications.

GLIDERS I provides the foundation for sustained glider-based ocean monitoring, enabling long-term observations that capture seasonal to interannual variability in marine ecosystems and biogeochemical processes.
