Project Overview

Building on GLIDERS I, this project expands glider infrastructure to support larger-scale observing networks and enhanced sensor capabilities. GLIDERS II focuses on integrating emerging sensor technologies for ecosystem monitoring, including advanced optical systems, passive acoustics, and eDNA sampling.

The project develops digital infrastructure for multi-platform data synthesis, combining glider observations with satellite data, numerical models, and other autonomous platform measurements. Work includes establishing data standards, developing visualization tools, and creating accessible data products for the research community and operational users.

GLIDERS II positions NOC's glider program to contribute to international ocean observing initiatives and support sustained monitoring of UK marine environments.
